Introducing Venture Press’ latest author: Christopher Hodder-Williams.

Fistful of Digits

Christopher was the author of some of the most forward-thinking, advanced science fiction of the mid-twentieth century. His books have been lauded as visionary, and were considered staples in the genre in their time. Venture Press will be publishing eleven of Christopher’s science fiction classics, beginning with FISTFUL OF DIGITS.

Christopher Hodder-Williams was an English writer, mainly of science fiction, but he wrote novels about aviation and espionage as well. Before his career in writing, Hodder-Williams joined the army in 1944, and served in the Middle East and lived in Kenya and New York, later settling in the UK. Many of his books are early examples of what would later be called techno-thrillers. He also worked as a composer and lyricist, and wrote numerous plays for television.

Author announcement – Stephen Deas

Venture Press is very proud to present Stephen Deas’ brand new novel LoneFire.

LoneFire

Deas was brought up in a quiet town populated by retired colonels, which most likely informed his passion for historical fiction. As a child living in a small town he dreamed up fantasy characters and worlds. Indeed, he never stopped, eventually publishing his Memory of Flames series in 2009. The now full-time author  studied theoretical physics at Cambridge, and went on to work as an electrical engineer at BAE Systems. In recent years he has released more fantasy, as well as historical fiction and science fiction under various pseudonyms. LoneFire is a departure from his usual Military Science Fiction, where he now delves into the dark and thrilling world of Cyberpunk. Deas now enjoys family life in South-East England with his wife and two children, writing as a full-time career and still attending fantasy conventions.

Clark is an established science fiction and horror novelist from Doncaster, and is known for titles such as Nailed by the Heart, The Night of the Triffids and his Vampyrrhic series. Clark claims to be raised in a family of storytellers – with family legends telling of a stolen human skull buried beneath their garage. In his early teens he sold his first story to a radio station, but the author’s career really started with a job writing stories for fanzines like Back Brain Recluse, which published his first collection of stories – Blood and Grit – in 1990. In 2002 Clark won the British Fantasy Award for best short story, Goblin City Lights, and best novel for The Night of the Triffids, and in 2011 he won the British Fantasy Award for best novella for Humpty’s Bones. He now lives with his wife and two children, where he pursues his full-time literary career.
